Description
Merry Edwards Russian River Valley Pinot Noir blends Pinot Noir from several vineyards across the appellation to give a broad expression of this Sonoma region. Founded in 1997, the winery works with different clones and sites throughout Russian River Valley, combining fruit from warmer areas with the freshness of vineyards influenced by Pacific fog. The result is designed to deliver depth, perfume and balance while retaining clear varietal character.
The grapes are hand harvested and hand sorted, fully destemmed and cold soaked for five days before fermentation. The wine ages for 10 months in French oak, 53% of it new. The glass shows black raspberry, cherry, plum, cassis, thyme, vanilla and cocoa notes. The palate is soft and generous, with juicy acidity, structured tannins and a long, spicy finish.
