WSET Courses Level 3 in wines

This high-level course is the perfect way to advance your wine knowledge. Ideal for the dedicated wine enthusiast and those who need to make informed decisions or recommendations about wine for work.

The Level 3 Award in Wines is designed to build on a solid foundation of knowledge, equivalent to that which is gained through Level 2 Award in Wines (previously known as the Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits). For this reason, the course is primarily open to students who have studied for this qualification. You must be at least 18 years old to enrol on any of our courses.

About WSET Courses Level 3 in Wines

– This is a highly rewarding yet demanding course which requires a minimum of 60 hours of private study time, in addition to guided tuition hours.

– The course will be in Spanish or English.

– Price: €1495 (IVA inc). This includes all materials and costs for exam.

1. The key factors in the production of wine: location, grape growing, winemaking, maturation and bottling

2. The key characteristics of the principal, still wines of the world, sparkling and fortified wines of the world

3. How to make appropriate wine recommendations

4. How to taste wines using the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)

5. Tutored tastings of 80 wines

A closed book theory examination in two parts, which must be completed in two hours. Part 1 comprises 50 multiple-choice questions. This part will assess your knowledge and understanding across the unit. Part 2 is a question paper requiring short written answers. A blind tasting exam featuring two still wines, which must be completed in 30 minutes. You must attain a combined mark of 55% across both parts to pass the exam.

Students who need to retake the exam can do so, there is a cost for the exams. All students who pass the examination will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.

The course may be partially eligible for funding through Fundae if the requirements are met. As this is considered a higher education course, a subsidy of €13 per teaching hour may be granted. If you are interested in applying for this funding, please contact us and we will provide you with the requirements and procedures. The subsidy is managed by an external company, which charges a small fee directly to students, as stipulated by Fundae. Please note that the minimum deadline for submitting the required documentation to Fundae is 10 days prior to the start of the course.
