Description
Les Tallades de Cal Nicolau is a single-vineyard red from Orto Vins in D.O. Montsant, made from Picapoll Negre planted in 1870. The vineyard has calcareous and clay soils and is farmed organically and biodynamically with regenerative agriculture practices. It belongs to the Singularitats d’Orto range, created around the oldest and most distinctive vineyards inherited by the winery’s families.
Fermentation takes place with the vineyard’s native yeasts in 500-litre barrels, followed by 28 days of maceration. After pressing, the wine moves to old barrels for malolactic fermentation and 12 months of ageing in 225-litre barrels between 5 and 12 years old. Its profile combines floral notes and red fruit with a fresh, fluid palate, fine tannins and a long, elegant finish.
