Description
Domaine Taupenot-Merme Auxey-Duresses Rouge is a Côte de Beaune Pinot Noir from a small 0.4-hectare parcel in the Les Cloux lieu-dit, planted in 1953. The domaine, run by Virginie and Romain Taupenot, follows organic practices and focuses on precise site expression through low yields, hand harvesting and rigorous grape selection.
The fruit is fully destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts after a cold pre-fermentation maceration, with gentle extraction through punch-downs and pump-overs. The wine then ages for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels, with a restrained proportion of new wood. In the glass it shows cherry, blackcurrant, violet flowers and earthy, spicy notes. The palate is fresh and mineral, with fine tannins, good depth and a long, balanced finish.
