Description
Valdecontina La Galapana is a red from Bodegas Valdecontina made from Mencía grown in the La Galapana site in Bierzo Alto. The vineyard lies on a steep, south-facing slope within an organically farmed estate. The winery focuses on preserving the identity of each individual site, and this wine aims to show the elegance and complexity of Mencía while retaining the natural freshness associated with the area’s higher elevation.
The grapes are harvested by hand and the wine is aged in French oak barrels. The glass shows cherry, black plum, blackberry and violet, together with balsamic, spicy and mineral notes. The palate is dense yet silky, fresh and balanced, with good length and a persistent finish.
