Description

Pujanza Blanco is a white wine from Bodegas y Viñedos Pujanza, made from Viura grown in several plots around Laguardia in Rioja Alavesa. The vineyards lie from around 600 metres above sea level on calcareous clay soils with a high lime content, an origin that contributes to the fresh, mineral character of the wine.

After cold maceration and gentle pressing, alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature in stainless steel tanks and 500-litre French oak barrels, with no malolactic fermentation. The wine then spends five months on its fine lees in both steel and oak. In the glass it shows lemon, grapefruit, apple and white flowers, with hints of wet stone and brioche. The palate is lively, creamy and balanced, with chalky minerality and a savoury, lightly saline finish.
