Description

Península Skin Contact is an organic orange wine from Península Vinicultores, made from 100% Albariño grown in an experimental vineyard in Cuenca at 700 to 800 metres above sea level. The project revisits the Spanish tradition of fermenting white grapes with their skins, using extended contact to build texture, complexity and character without producing a heavy style.

The grapes are destemmed and fermented in stainless-steel tanks. The wine then remains in contact with the skins for 152 days, a process that also creates a protective environment and allows sulphur dioxide use to be kept to a minimum. In the glass it shows orange peel, ginger, grapefruit and stone fruit. The palate is delicate and fresh, yet supported by firm tannins and a gently bitter finish that adds definition.
