Romaneira is one of the largest estates in the Douro, with a total of 412 hectares and 3 kilometres of river frontage on the river Douro. The vineyards are planted on terraces on the steeply sloping hills of the property. Romaneira contains several microclimates and various South Easterly, South Westerly and Southern facing slopes. All their wines are made exclusively from grapes from their vineyards, a distinctive characteristic of Quinta da Romaneira wines. Sino, is the 18th century bell over the gate of the principal Quinta house. The grapes for the Sino are sourced from various sites within the quinta, with a preponderance of Touriga Francesa and Tinta Roriz. It is aged for 11 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are second year of use.
