J. Cabral Almeida has a dedicated and passionate team that collectively represents a new generation, one which firmly believes in the value of viticulture, as reflected both in the quality and consistency across their wine portfolio. The vineyards, terraced in steep hillsides, are mostly located in and around the Valley of the Douro river, crossing the entire region. Surrounding mountain ranges, especially Serra do Marão in the west, shelter the region from the weather that sweeps in from the Atlantic Ocean. Annual rainfall is low, the winters are very cold and the summers hot and dry. The soil consists predominantly of schist.
