D’Arenberg is made from gapes grown in the stunning McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills in South Australia. The winery was founded in 1912 and is now ma-naged by the 4th generation of the Osborn family. Dead Arm Shiraz is one of D’Arenberg’s emblematic wines . It is named after a vine disease where one half of the stem or arm of the vine dies but the grapes on the other ‘arm’ survive to make wines that display amazing intensity. Small batches of grapes are gently crushed, foot treading is undertaken during fer-mentation. The wine is basked pressed and then transferred to a mixture of new and used French and American oak barrels to complete the fermentation, then aged on the lees. The wine is not fined or filtered prior to bottling and can last for up to 20 years.
