Montalcino, an ancient and fascinating Sienese village of Etruscan origin, located on top of a hill at an altitude of 600m, in among forests of oak trees. For over 40 years it has been the only wine growing cooperative in the area and counts about 100 small farms with 160 hectares. The wine is made from hand picked Sangiovese grapes with 10% other local varietals to give it an added complexity.
