MacRobert & Canals is a small family-owned winery that started through the integration of Bryan MacRobert a South African winemaker and grape grower, into the Canals family, who have been living in Rioja for over forty years. They are an atypical project in Rioja differentiated by their roots, experience and winemaking philosophy. We prioritise the vineyard over the cellar and they strive to produce high quality terroir transparent wines that show the diversity of the soils, vineyards, varieties and climates that exist within the region.
They aim to reflect the characteristics of this grape variety producing it as a single variety from Rioja. they select low yielding, dry land farmed, old vines with altitude to make this wine. In the cellar they ferment and age this wine for one year in oval, egg shaped, concrete tanks. 933 bottles made.
