Western Cape, South Africa
The name Tamboerskloof means the valley (kloof) of the drums (tamboer). The Dutch settlers immigrated to the Cape in 1652 to farm with fruit and vegetables to supply the Dutch East Indian Company ships on their way. In 2000 Gerard de Villiers, descendant of the original immigrants, and his wife Libby opened Kleinood, which mans small and precios in Africans. This is a boutique winery near Stellenbosch, one of the premium vineyard areas in South Africa, producing small quantities of world class wines.
Dark crimson colour, blackcurrant, plum, violet and spicy aromas. On the palate it is full bodied and well balanced with flavours of black fruits, spices and smooth tannins.
Pairs well with game, red meats and other hearty dishes.
