St Romain Blanc, Lupé-Cholet
Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Lupé-Cholet was the creation of Alexandre de Mayol de Lupé and Félix de Cholet who founded the winery in 1903. Bringing together tradition and modernity, these wines express their character from the soil they originate. Saint Romain is a small village located southwest of Beaune surrounded by spectacular hills. Careful sorting of the grapes, light pressing, partial or total de-stemming, and cold maceration prior to fermentation are the techniques used to imprint Lupé-Cholet’s unique signature on the wines, which are rich and complex, and redolent of fruit.
It is a medium gold in colour. Fresh and youthful, it has intense fruit with ripe apple, pear and some spice (including cinnamon). Full bodied and lively, with a nicely balanced oaky creaminess.
It is a good match for all fish and seafood as well as white meats in sauce also with strongish cheeses.
