D’Arenberg The Olive Grove Chardonnay 2017
D’Arenberg The Olive Grove Chardonnay is made from gapes grown in the stunning McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills in South Australia. The winery was founded in 1912 and is now managed by the 4th generation of the D’Arenberg family. Since European settlement in the 1840’s olive trees have thrived in South Australia. They are alongside roads, in gardens and occasionally in the middle of the Chardonnay vineyards, hence the name of this wines. Small batches of grapes are gently crushed, chilled and then basked pressed. To add complexity and mouthfeel the wine is fermented and matured in a mixture of French and American oak barrels for seven months.
This is a crisp, elegant wine with peach and citrus fruit flavours and a touch of spicy, brioche notes and a creaminess that comes from its time spent in oak barrels.
Serve chilled on its own or to accompany pasta dishes, white meats and fish.
