Valpolicella Classico, Italy
Accordini Amarone Classico DOCG
Three generations of the Accordini family manage this small, highly regarded winery in the heart of Valpolicella Classico region in the Veneto, northern Italy. The grapes are grown on the finest hillside vineyards in the area. They are picked by hand, macerated on the skins to extract colour are flavours, then fermented in stainless steel tanks prior to being bottle.
The best grapes are selected, placed in 6 Kg trunks and left to rest in our orchards for 90-120 days. During this drying period Botritis Nobile partially transform sugars into glycerine. After crushing the grapes, a long maceration and alcoholic fermentation follows, resulting in a very structured and incredibly aromatic wine. 2 years of ageing in big barrels and oak follows, where it completes its malolactic fermentation and matures into a distinctive personality. The wine has an intense red ruby colour with garnet shades, elegant bouquet with black cherry hints, very mature fruits and spices.
Traditionally pairing with game, grilled meats, and roasted and ripened cheeses.
