Darenberg The Love Grass Shiraz

Origin

Darenberg The Love Grass Shiraz 2010 is from the stunning McLaren Vale in South Australia.  The winery was founded in 1912 and is now managed by the 4th generation of the family. The name’ Lovegrass’ comes from a weed that grows in the vineyards and its sticky flowers affectionately attach themselves to vineyard workers’ socks.

Small batches of grapes are gently crushed and then transferred to open fermenters. Foot treading is undertaken two thirds of the way through fermentation, the wine is basket pressed and then aged in French oak for up to 18 months.

Style

Darenberg The Love Grass Shiraz 2010 has a perfumed nose of musk and violet.  On the palate it has more exotic aromatics of warm, Indian spices and savoury cured meats and black olives.

Food Match

Ideal with grilled pork chops,  roast lamb or ‘chilli con carne’.
